Monday Quick Read: Feeling Overwhelmed with New iOS Releases?
How to stay on top of things as a non-indie developer
Happy Monday!
Monday Quick Read is a series of short articles, where I share my personal experiences and thoughts on software development, particularly iOS.
In previous article, I talked about why learning UIKit before SwiftUI is beneficial for iOS developers.
Every year, Apple releases new iOS versions with exciting new features.
However, keeping up with the latest frameworks while managing existing apps can be challenging.
Here are few ideas how to stay on top of things without being over-burned:
Prioritize learning
Focus on key updates relevant to your current projects. Trying to learn everything at once can be overwhelming. Concentrate on updates that have an immediate impact on your work.
Incremental adoption
Avoid rushing to integrate new frameworks right after their release or on day one of a new OS version. Implementing too quickly can introduce unexpected bugs and complications.
Use community resources
Stay informed by following iOS developer blogs, newsletters (like my own!), and WWDC videos. Engaging with community resources helps you learn at your own pace.Maintain flexibility
Implement the most critical features first to meet deadlines. Keep a backlog of additional features to explore and integrate as time allows.
